CEB directed to buy more power

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday issued directives to add additional 75 megawatts to the National Grid.

The PM has instructed Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Chairman Vijitha Herath to purchase power from 38 mini power plants. Purchasing power from these 38 mini power plants owned by local entrepreneurs were stopped by the previous Good Governance Government as they came to power.

Prime Minister’s Media Secretary Vijayananda Herath noted that the agreements to purchase power from these power plants will be entered into within the next week.
