SLPP needs no support from other parties for stable government - SB

Former Minister S.B. Dissanayake yesterday said that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) will get a two thirds majority at the forthcoming election, so having support from another party to form a stable government does not arise.

Dissanayake, the SLPP candidate for the Nuwaraeliya District, was speaking at an election meeting in Ambagamuwa on Sunday. He said the SLPP will not seek support either from the United National Party (UNP) or the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) as their policies are not compatible with those of the SLPP.

“Even though the UNP and the SJB are two different parties, their ideas and programmes of work are the same. Their policies have failed over the years,” he said. Dissanayake told the gathering that the SLPP will achieve a record win from the Nuwaraeliya District at the upcoming poll.
