Former Narcotics SI’s house raided

Cash, vehicles, credit cards, phones seized
Amassed over Rs.30 mn

Following interrogations of several officers attached to the Police Narcotics Bureau on charges of alleged links with drug traffickers the Police yesterday seized cash, vehicles and equipment allegedly used for drugs trade from the residence of an interdicted Sub Inspector arrested in connection with the incident.

According to police the suspects have allegedly amassed over Rs.30 million through drug trade which has been used to buy vehicles and property.

Following a search of the suspects house in Minuwangoda area, the Police had seized a vehicle allegedly used for transporting heroin, a motorcycle, Rs. 940,000 in cash, a knife, four credit cards, a GPS device, one SIM card, Satellite Phones and mobile phones.

Four officers attached to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) and a civilian were recently arrested on charges of aiding drug traffickers and maintaining close links with a drug dealer from Minuwangoda by CID.

They had resold heroin which was seized by the PNB, back to the drug dealers.They also have allegedly helped drug traffickers to transport heroin.The suspects have reportedly purchased property and vehicles earned through drug dealing.

According to Police Media Spokesman’s office the investigations are continuing.
