150 Lankans stranded in UK arrive

More than 150 Sri Lankan nationals stranded in the United Kingdom due to the Covid-19 pandemic arrived yesterday (24) afternoon on a special charter flight operated by SriLankan Airlines.

UL flight 505 landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), yesterday around 1 pm. The flight had left the Heathrow Airport in the early hours of Tuesday (23).

The passengers and the flight crew had to undergo the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests at the airport, according to the Ministry of Health protocols and were later sent to hotels nearby.

The past month more than 40 UL flights had arrived with those stranded in various countries.
