A team of Dambulla Forest Conservation officials arrested an individual transporting Mahogany planks without a permit, last Friday. The seized consignment is said to be worth Rs.400,000.

Dambulla Forest Officer I.M. Dayananda said that they had intercepted the vehicle at the C.D. Junction on the A9 Route. He added that the Mahogany had been concealed under other timber that do not require permits to be transported.

The suspect is to be produced at the Dambulla Magistrate’s Court, soon.
