Insulting religious leaders UNP’s habit: Keheliya

Insulting religious leaders has become a habit for several United National Party (UNP) members, MP Keheliya Rambukwella said.

The path that was taken by Mangala Samaraweera is now followed by ‘Samagi Jana Balawegaya’ (SJB) candidate Harin Fernando as well, he said, adding that he condemns MP Harin Fernando for accusing Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith of being biased.

It is suspected that they are attempting to save their allies from the investigations being conducted into the Easter Sunday attacks through such insults and statements, Rambukwella said.

“Samaraweera had to quit the election because he insulted the Maha Sangha, and the UNP and SJB have no election slogans. We sympathise with them as their campaign is failing day by day due to their actions,” the MP added.
