The Sri Lanka Navy General Hospital can be used as usual from June 25, Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe said.

According to Dr. Jasinghe, the hospital will be disinfected/ decontaminated and routine functions can begin as usual from June 25 as the premises is free of COVID-19. The infected Navy cluster can be 100 percent controlled within one-month.

He was speaking to the electronic media on Sunday.

Dr. Jasinghe pointed out that the number of COVID-19 cases identified from the Navy cluster has significantly decreased and only a few COVID-19 infections are being reported from this cluster.

A type of mini ‘social transmission’ has been observed within this Navy cluster. Dr. Jasinghe stressed that around 80 percent of the people returned from Kuwait were infected with COVID-19 and around 35 percent returned from Qatar were also infected.

Around 20 percent who returned from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were infected with COVID-19. Some countries had repatriated people after conducting an antibody test instead of the PCR Test for COVID-19 .
