Showers to persist in coming days: Met Dept.

The Meteorology Department stated yesterday that showery conditions would prevail over the Southwestern part of the island, and may worsen in the coming days.

Showers are expected in the Western, Northwestern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces.

The department forecasts that fairly heavy falls of about 75mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Eastern and Uva provinces during evenings, the department added.“Wind speeds could reach up to 50kmph, at times, over the island, particularly in Western slopes of the Central Hills and the Northern, Northcentral, Northwestern provinces, as well as in the Hambantota District.
