SJB candidate arrested with 4,000 election posters

Kalpitiya Police arrested four suspects including a candidate of the upcoming General Election for processing and transporting illegal election posters in a luxury vehicle in Kandakuliya area on Thursday evening.

“The candidate is contesting the election under the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) from the Puttalam District and was taken into custody along 4,000 posters,” Police said.

Police made this raid on a tip-off, it was learnt.

The suspects were released on police bail on the same evening and were to be produced before the Puttalam Magistrate yesterday.
