Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Chairman Vijitha Herath yesterday said that the correct electricity bill is the final one that consumers received. It has been calculated taking into account only the number of units they used, he said.
He added that the final bill has the correct update on meter reading and relief for the first 30 units have been given to consumers in each previous month. Accordingly, the consumers have received the relief of 60 units for the electricity bills for the last two months, he said.
“However, if someone has received a bill with high charges for March and April compared to their February bill, that is because of the increase of units due to domestic usage during the lockdown,” he said.
Even some businessmen could not pay their electricity bills owing to the closure of businesses.
