‘Leaders’ squabbles leaving UNPers stranded’

UNPers at grassroots level are disappointed as there is no unity among the party’s top brass, said former State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena.

He said that the conflict within the party has paved the way for the Government to receive a two thirds majority at the forthcoming General election. Yapa said the country needs a strong Parliament to effectively meet the socio-economic challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The former State Minister was speaking at a meeting at Malimbada on Tuesday. Yapa added that the country needs people’s representatives who are committed to serve the public.
