Three Pakistan medal winners of the last South Asian Games held in Kathmandu, Nepal have tested positive for performance enhancing drugs .

The Pakistan media stated that officials of the Athletic Federation of Pakistan(AFP) have confirmed that the three athletes gold medal winners Mehboob Ali (400m hurdles) Mohammad Inam (110m hurdles) and bronze medallist Samiullah (100m) have tested positive from the ‘A’ sample for using performance enhancing drugs If the tests are still positive from the second samples ‘B’ (to which they will be given the option), Pakistan will lose six medals as all three athletes were also part of bronze medal-winning relay teams.

Asanka Indrajith may win a bronze medal.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka once again was more concerned about the three Pakistan athletes final reports of the tests. If they are banned and are stripped off their medals then Sri Lankan 110m hurdler Roshan Dhammika .who won the bronze medal in this event will be upgraded for silver medal while Asanka Indrajith who was placed fourth at the 400m hurdle will be upgraded to third place to take bronze medal.

However National Athletic Association President Major General Palitha Fernando said we have to wait and see to confirm this. as normally after’ A’ urine sample test report positive they are going for the ‘B ‘sample test and finally they have the option of appealing to the Court of Arbitration .

That's why we have to wait and see for the final results said the National Athletic chief.

Sri Lanka finished on top of the medals tally in the athletic competition overtaking India with a tally of 35 medals (15 gold,13silver and 8 bronze)It was only after 1991 that Sri Lanka was able to beat India in the SAG athletic medal tally.
