Lotus Tower: President calls for greater investment outlook

The Colombo Lotus Tower Project must be converted into a more productive and high standard investment through modernization, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said.

The President in a meeting with the officials of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) and Lotus Tower Project today instructed them to educate local and foreign businessmen on investment plans that run parallel to the Project.

He said local and foreign investors must be given the opportunity to bid for restaurants, sales outlets, and entertainment facilities to be created inside the tower. He added that they must also be allowed to do their own interior designs after getting them approved.

The President pointed out that not only the tourists but also the public must be allowed to enter the tower to experience its wonders.

The Project is expected to be completed by the beginning of next year after resolving its current issues.

Secretary to the President Dr P.B. Jayasundera, Chief Advisor to the President Lalith Weeratunga, Defence Secretary Major General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne, TRC Director General Osandha Senanayake, Chief Consultant of the Project Major General (Retd) Prasad Samarasinghe attended the meeting.
