Organic foods project launched

An organisation named Organika aimed at nature-friendly, healthy organic food accessible for everyone was inaugurated at Akkaraipattu Water Park Esplanade in the presence of a gathering of experts in the field of agriculture and other allied fields.

The inauguration which was chaired by the Organika Project Leader and Senior Lecturer - SEUSL Dr. M.M.M. Muneeb was attended by the Mayor of Akkaraipattu Municipal Council Athaullah Ahamed Zackie as the chief guest and Akkaraipattu Divisional Secretary Ash Sheikh M.S.M. Razzan as guest of honour,

Addressing the gathering, Mayor Ahamed Zackie said that this was a welcome move as it promotes organic food culture through which chemical-free foods could be consumed.

He said a healthy society can be promoted only when we engage in these types of projects.

Divisional Secretary A.S. Sheikh Razzan, Medical Officer Health Dr. Faroosa Nakfer, Deputy Director Agriculture (Research) Y.B. Iqbal and several others also addressed the gathering which was also attended by Deputy Director Agriculture – Ampara M.F. Ahamed Zaneer, Assistant Divisional Secretary Rosin Y. Thaaj and several other agricultural experts.

At the conclusion of the programme, Mayor Ahamed Zackie ceremonially launched the website of Organika, followed by a distribution of packets of home garden seeds.
