ID card One Day service from June 22

The Department of Registration of Persons will start its one-day service to issue National Identity Cards from Monday June 22. The service was stopped because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the service commences on June 22 the Department will take steps to issue 250 identity cards daily to its the applicants visiting the Registration of Persons headquarters in Battaramulla, the Commissioner General of Registration of Persons, Viyani Gunatilake yesterday told the Daily News.

Those wishing to obtain their national ID through the one-day service should submit their ID Card applications approved by Grama Niladhari to the Identity Card Office located in their respective Divisional Secretariat office.

Gunatilake said those willing to obtain their National Identity Cards on the same day should obtain a Token Number within ten working days to visit the Department of Registration to obtain the one-day service. Should the applicant fail to visit to the department on the due date, he or she would have to get a fresh date for the service from the relevant Divisional Secretariat.

People who have fever are requested not to seek this service.
