NHSL robbery suspect had no accomplices - Police

The doctor who carried out the failed robbery at the Colombo National Hospital on Tuesday (9) had no accomplices, Police Media Spokesman SP Jaliya Senaratne said today.

“The doctor had no associates and had carried out the crime on his own, according to the investigation that has been carried out so far,” Senaratne said.

He added the ongoing investigations in the coming days will reveal as to why the doctor had carried the robbery, whether there was other involvement and if there is any connection to previous robberies.

“The two constables who foiled the robbery will be appreciated for their work by the Inspector General of Police,” he said.

On Tuesday afternoon, the suspect had robbed Rs 7.9 million from the cashier of the Colombo National Hospital at gunpoint and fled the scene in a three-wheeler. He was later pursued by two police constables and arrested.
