Nod for places of worship, tuition classes

Places of worship and tuition classes have been given the green light to resume with the participation of a limited number of participants, National Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe said in a statement issued today.  

Issuing a statement the Government Information Department said, places of worship could commence operations from Friday June 12th limiting the number of participants to 50 and maintaining social distancing. However, in places where space is limited and this number of participants cannot be accommodated, only half of the usual gathering would be permitted.

Accordingly, tuition classes will be permitted to resume operations from Monday, June 29th  with a maximum of 100 students while maintaining social distancing.

However, in classrooms where 100 students cannot be accommodated while maintaining social distancing,  then the number of students should be limited to half its usual capacity  based on the size of the classroom, the statement noted.

The Government said that religious worship and tuition classes must be conducted in strict adherence with health guidelines issued by the Health Ministry to control the spread of the coronavirus.
