COVID 19 health staff to receive holidays at star class hotels, special meals for patients

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had instructed Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi to give health staff members who have been treating COVID-19 patients for a long time a short holiday at star class hotels along with their families and offer delicious and nutritious meals to COVID-19 patients at hospitals, Health Ministry Spokesman said.

According to the Spokesman, the President had instructed Minister Wanniarachchi to provide all required facilities to the health staff treating COVID-19 patients. Minister Wanniarachchi instructed Health Ministry Secretary Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe to look into the issues of those health staffs and address those issues if any.

During a special discussion held at the health Ministry Auditorium yesterday, the doctors who are treating COVID-19 patients explained the issues to Minister Wanniarachchi. She pointed out that since the home cooked food cannot be provided for COVID-19 patients, nutritious and delicious meals should be given to them for 14 to 28 days, he said.

The Minister instructed Health Ministry Secretary Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe to send the relevant health staff for short vacations at star class hotels along with their families.

Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe and Health Ministry officials were present during the discussion, he added.
