Compulsory registration of coconut lands

The Coconut Development Board has announced that the registration of all coconut lands in the island has been made compulsory under the Coconut Development Act No. 46 of 1971.

Accordingly, only the coconut lands registered under Coconut Cultivation Board will be eligible for the project services and other subsidy programmes implemented by the Board, the Government Information Department issuing a media communiqué said.

This decision has been taken by the Coconut Cultivation Board with the objectives of keeping accurate data on the coconut lands in the island, preparing development plans, proper monitoring of the productivity of coconut lands and conserving coconut lands.
