Former Daily News journalist passes away

Former Daily News senior Sub Editor T.L. Sheriffdeen (83) passed away last week (June 2) after a brief illness.

He served the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) for over 30 years and was attached to the Daily News and Dinamina editorials. He was also once the Dinamina Provincial News Editor. He began his journalism career at the Davasa newspaper. Sheriffdeen was also actively involved with the Thafheemul Quran Sinhala Translation Project managed by the Sri Lanka Jama’ath-e-Islami.

He was the father of Ishan (Sub Editor-Daily Mirror) and Umran (KSA).
