Govi Nena app for home gardeners launched

Ruhuna University Vice Chancellor Senior Prof. Dr. Sujeewa Amarasena said that developers have to monitor how many people are accessing the ‘Govi-Nena’ mobile application. He was launching the application on Monday (June 1).

The Govi-Nena is an online application for home gardeners that was developed by a team from the university along with the Colombo University School of Computing and the Western Sydney University of Australia.

Prof. Amarasena said the application could be further improved and called upon academics of the Agriculture Faculty to set up a program for the undergrads to study and research in the field.

He said that home gardening gives everyone fresh food verities. He called upon the academics to share their knowledge with the community in this regard.

Govi Nena Project Coordinator Dr. W A Indika said that the app could be downloaded to a mobile device from or from Playstore.
