Fourth year coloursman, right hand bat and opener, right arm pace bowler who opens the bowling and an all rounder with a good arm Sasanka Adeepa Jayalath is the highest run getter and the highest wicket taker for Taxila Central College, Horana. In 15 matches he has scored 707 runs with a top score of 110 runs versus President’s College and two fifties. He has also captured 41 wickets with three five-wicket hauls the best being 5 for 17 against Royal College, Panadura.

Taxila is participating in the under 19 division two cricket tournament under the leadership of Chamidu Ranvinu Weerakkody and his twin brother Seneth Vinvinu Weerakkody who is his deputy. In 15 outings they won two matches outright, seven on first innings wins, lost five on first innings with one drawn. They are coached by Kamal Sujeewa who is also the Master-in-Charge and his assistant is Gavinda Basnayake.

Taxila played their 19th Big Match “Raigam-Salpiti” and the Limited Over match before the outbreak of the corona against their arch rivals Piliyandala Central. They drew the Big Match but lost the One Dayer by 7 wickets. This Salpiti Raigam Big Match which was inaugurated in 2001 was earlier known as the “Battle of the Centralians” and was the brain child of the then principal K. G. Wimalasena of Central College and H. W. K. Abepala of Taxila.

Sasanka commenced playing school cricket in the under 13 age group in 2013 and 2014 and continued in the under 15 in 2015 and 2016. He played for the under 17 team in 2017 and 2018. While playing for the under 15 team he represented the first eleven from 2017 and has played in four Big Matches and Limited Over matches in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. He represented Kalutara in the under 19 District tournament.

Their Principal Mrs. K. K. P. Jayathilake with the aid of Deputy Principal sports Premasiri Edirisinghe have extended their fullest co-operation and support to keep the game alive in the school.
