Health Ministry provides guidelines to EC

The Health Ministry handed over health guidelines in connection with holding the General Election to the National Election Commission today, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said.

According to Minister Wanniarachchi, the health guidelines include the recommendations for postal voting, which public servants should take part in the process of postal voting, how election meetings should be held and how house to house canvassing should be done.

Minister Wanniarachchi pointed out that the health guidelines for holding the General Election also contain how the General Election day activities should be done and how counting of votes should be done. With health guidelines in hand, the Election Commission can hold the General election quickly, she noted.

Meanwhile, Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe said the health guidelines for the General Election had been formulated through continuous discussions held with the officials of the Election Commission. All events, occasions and other entities related to the General Election process were discussed during the series of discussions held between the health officials and the Election Commission officials.
