Soysapura shooting: Two more suspects nabbed

Two more suspects involved in the recent shooting attack on a restaurant in the Soysapura area in Moratuwa were arrested by the police on Tuesday night, according to the Police Media Division.

A team of officers from Mount Lavinia Police had arrested the suspects at Angulana and Ratmalana areas. They are 26 and 36 years of age and the police had found 01 gram and 100mg of heroin in the possession of one of the suspects and another 01 gram and 125 mg of heroin in the possession of the other suspect at the time of the arrest. They are both residents of Angulana.

The two arrested suspects were scheduled to be produced before the Mt. Lavinia Magistrate’s Court, today (03).

A restaurant in Soysapura came under an attack initially by an unidentified group of persons wielding swords during curfew hours on May 19. Then again on May 28th the same restaurant came under gun fire despite the presence of three police officers stationed at the location for security. The police officers were subsequently interdicted.

The owner of the hotel that came under attack claimed that the suspects had threatened him and demanded ransom and as he had not been able to pay the sum they demanded, they had attacked his hotel.
