Two soldiers die in motorcycle-bus collision

Two military intelligence soldiers had been killed in an accident on June 2 when the motorcycle they were travelling on had collided with a bus travelling in the opposite direction on the Bakamuna-Dambulla road, Bakamoona Police said.  

The deceased had been identified as 28-year-old Udaya Anuruddha and 27-year-old Tharindu Maduwantha. They were residents of Lunugala and Haltota and had been serving in the Army unit in Kokkavil, Killinochchi. According to initial investigations, they had lost control of the motorcycle because of the high speed they took at a bend where they crashed into the bus.  

The bus driver had been arrested.  

The Army personnel had been taken to the Bakamuna Hospital with the assistance of the residents but was pronounced dead on admission.  

The residents of the area said that many accidents happened at the spot. The bodies of the deceased are lying now at the Bakamuna Hospital for a post-mortem. 

Bakamoona Police are investigating.
