Colombo Med. Faculty pioneers health sector – Health Minister

Consultants and researchers in the Colombo Medical Faculty have made a significant contribution to COVID-19 control activities implemented by the Health Ministry, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said.

Addressing a ceremony held at the Colombo Medical Faculty yesterday to mark its 150th anniversary, she said the doctors produced by the faculty have rendered a great service towards the healthcare sector in the country.

“Data is essential to formulate policies for the upliftment of the health sector. The researchers of the Colombo Medical Faculty have made a significant contribution towards this task handled by the Health Ministry,” she added.

Higher Education, Technology and Innovation and Information and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena, Health Ministry Secretary Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof. Sampath Amaratunga and officials of the Colombo University and Colombo Medical Faculty were present on the occasion.
