Govi Nena launch today

Govi Nena, a mobile based information system for home gardeners developed by a team of researchers of the faculty of Agriculture of the University of Ruhuna along with the University of Colombo School of Computing and the Western Sydney University of Australia, will be launched by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna senior professor Sujeewa Amarasena at the Senate Hall of the tomorrow morning (June 1).

With the government’s initiative to promote the cultivation of one million home gardens, the ‘Govi-Nena’ research team developed the online mobile platform to guide farmers step by step on the cultivation from soil preparation to harvesting.

The project has been funded by Accelerating Higher Education Expansion And Development Project (AHEAD), Research, Innovation and Commercialization Grants (RIC Grants), Hayleys Agriculture, Agstar PLC, Horticulture Crop Research And Development Institute (HORDI) and the Department of Agriculture.
