Four ambulances carrying COVID-19 patients collide into one another

Four of seven ambulances transporting Coronavirus patients from the Minneriya Quarantine Centre to the Homagama Hospital had collided into one other at Kandalanda, on Tuesday.

The incident had occurred when one of the ambulances was forced to hit the brakes at once, causing three others behind it to subsequently collide into one another. This accident had also been caught on a nearby CCTV camera.

The patients were those who had recently arrived in the country from Kuwait, and 24 of them had been in the seven ambulances at the time.

However, none of the patients involved in the accident had sustained any injuries, and were soon admitted to the Homagama Hospital with the assistance of onlookers.

Investigations are continuing.
