GMOA commends fast editing of Itukama ad

The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) has sent a letter to President's Secretary, Dr. P.B. Jayasundara, appreciating the steps taken to edit the Itukama television advertisement which contradicted National Nutrition Guidelines, GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge told the Daily News.

According to Dr. Aluthge, the GMOA had previously sent a letter stating that while it appreciated the objectives of the Itukama fundraising project, the project's advertisement promoted bottle-feeding and formula feeding, which was against National Child Nutrition Guidelines. Therefore, the association had requested that the advertisement be edited and that particular part in it be omitted.

Dr. Aluthge said that the GMOA Executive Committee appreciates how quickly their request was met and also assured their support in the battle against the Coronavirus.
