A special repatriation flight carrying over 100 Lankans stranded in Russia due to the Covid-19 pandemic returned to the country this(25) morning.

According to airport officials, SriLankan Airlines flight (1206) landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) around 6 am today.

The passengers and their luggage were subjected to disinfection by Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) personnel on arrival and their temperatures checked by health officials for any possible symptoms of the virus.

The batch was sent to quarantine centres run by the Sri Lanka Army.

This is the second flight that operated to Russia to bring back Lankans during the Covid-19 pandemic, which brought back around 200 passengers about a week ago. In total, 29 SriLankan Airlines flights had carried out special operations to bring down stranded Lankan nationals from various destinations.
