Ministry employees donate salaries to wnop

The employees of the Treasury and the Finance, Economy and Policy Development Ministry have donated a share of their salaries for May to the Widows’ and Orphans’ Pension Fund.

The Treasury Secretary had donated 50 per cent of his salary for the May and the majority of officials had donated 10-25 per cent of their salaries. The rest of the workers had donated a day’s wage to the Fund.

The Finance, Economy and Policy Development Ministry in a press release said the donation was made accepting the private request made by Secretary to the President Dr. P. B. Jayasundera to manage the economic pressure during the crisis period.
