Anuradhapura schools receive clean water

The Seneru Sisu Saviya Foundation was the first recipient of a grant under the German Embassy Micro Projects Scheme and will set up water purification units at schools in the Anuradhapura District.

The schools have been selected after the water was tested for arsenic and other contaminants. Altogether 13 schools will benefit from the project.

The agreement for granting Rs 1.9 Mn was signed on March 5 between Deputy Ambassador Andreas Berg and Foundation President Dr. Neranjan Elkawela and Committee Member Gamini Thilaka.

Ambassador Joern Rohde said that the Embassy was keen to provide  assistance in combating the chronic kidney disease in Anuradhapura.
