Curfew violations: police arrest 2,709 persons in 24 hours

During the 24-hour island-wide curfew period that ended at 6.00 am, yesterday, police arrested 2,709 persons who had violated curfew regulations, the Police Media Spokesman’s Office stated.

In addition, police had also seized 946 vehicles that were used by those who violated curfew regulations during the said period: May 17, 6.00 am, to May 18, 6.00 am.

In total, 59,035 persons have been arrested over curfew violations since 6.00 pm, on March 20, until 6.00 am, yesterday. The police had also taken into custody a total of 16,436 vehicles during this period.

From March 18, until 6.00 am, yesterday, a total of 15,695 cases have been filed by the police in respect of these offenses, while a 5,660 have been sentenced.
