Number of COVID-19 recoveries exceeds positive cases

The number of individuals recovered from COVID-19 has risen to 538 according to the Health Ministry Epidemiology unit.

The number of active cases at present is 413. According to the unit, 18 individuals recovered yesterday out of which seven were seeking treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, seven others from the Homagama Base Hospital, three from the Colombo East Base Hospital and one from the Iranawila Hospital.

Meanwhile the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased to 970, after 25 new cases were reported on Saturday.

Twelve (12) Naval personnel infected with coronavirus and treated in hospitals, were discharged from the hospitals having tested negative to COVID-19.

These Naval personnel who were identified positive to coronavirus, were admitted. This group in Homagama hospital (7), Mulleriyawa hospital (3) and IDH hospital (2) were discharged on May 16 as these sailors were found negative to COVID-19 on the reports of random PCR tests done under treatment.

As of now, including these 12 naval personnel, 189 naval personnel out of the total number of infected ones, have been discharged from hospitals after being tested negative to COVID-19.
