Over 13,500 charged for violating curfew in last 24 hours

The police had filed charges against 13,556 persons for violating curfew regulations since imposing curfew at 6 pm on March 20 until 6.00 am yesterday (17), according to the Police Media Division.

Of the total number of cases filed, 5,221 persons had been sentenced by the courts over their offences.

The police had arrested 56,326 persons for violating curfew regulations between 6 am on March 20 and 6 am yesterday (17).

During this period, the Police had seized 15,490 vehicles of the curfew violators, the Police Media Division stated.

During the 24-hour period from 6 am on Saturday (16) to last morning (17), 620 individuals have been arrested for violating the curfew.

The Police had also seized 274 vehicles during this 24-hour period.
