BIA ready for operations

Industrial Export and Investment Promotion, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said yesterday that all the operations at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake are expected to be resumed shortly in accordance with the recommendations of the Health Sectors and international aviation rules and regulations after controlling the coronavirus epidemic.

“A strategic plan to resume the functioning at the BIA after successfully controlling the epidemic  has already been formulated and all the operations will be resumed once the approval from officials of health, security and all other relevant fields  are received," the Minister said.

Minister Ranatunga yesterday made an observation tour to the newly opened departure terminal for passengers at BIA and new access road to the BIA constructed at a cost of Rs.438 million under the BIA expansion project.
