300 arrive from Maldives

A group of Lankans stranded in the Maldives were repatriated yesterday (14) morning on a special Sri Lanka Airlines flight.

The special flight UL 102 had 300 passengers, including some foreign nationals, and had arrived yesterday at 11 30 am at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

The 300 passengers followed health protocols and were later sent to quarantine centres, managed by the Sri Lankan Army.

This is the second UL flight to carry out a special operation mission to the Maldives, and the 21st flight operating to bring down stranded Lankan nationals from various destinations during Covid-19 virus outbreak.

The national carrier is expected to operate more special flights to other destinations including Tokyo in the coming days.
