Police to look into issues faced by field officials

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has directed to appoint Police officers to attend to the issues faced by Grama Sevaka officers and other field officers while rendering their duties related to COVID 19 eradication program.

The Prime Minister yesterday instructed the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) to appoint Police Officers for each area to find the issues faced by Grama Seva officers, Economic Development Officers and Agriculture Research Officers when they continue with the Government's program to provide relief to those who were deprived of their living due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister made these directions at his official residence at Wijerama during a meeting with the trade union representatives of the Grama Seva officers, Economic Development Officers and Sri Lanka Agriculture Research Officers.

Following the discussions on the issues faced by those field officers Prime Minister directed the health authorities to issue gloves and masks required by them without delay since they face the public in carrying out their duties.

Prime Minister Rajapaksa also appreciated the commendable service of those officers.
