FR filed by Shani Abeysekara fixed for support on July 30

The Fundamental Rights petition filed by former CID Director, Senior Superintendent of Police Shani Abeysekara was today fixed for support on July 30 by Supreme Court. 
 
President’s Counsel Chanaka de Silva with counsel Manjula Balasuriya appearing for petitioner sought a further date obtain instructions from petitioner Shani Abeysekara since he had been interdicted from police service. 
Supreme Court three-judge-bench comprised Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, Justice S.Thurairaja and Justice Murdu Fernando.
 
Through this petition, the petitioner is challenging his transfer from the post of Director CID to a Personal Assistant to the Deputy Inspector General of Police of Galle Range and demands. 
 
In his Petition, Shani Abeysekara stated that just four days after the release of the results the Presidential Election held on November 16 last year, the Acting Inspector General of Police informed him through a telephone message that he was transferred with immediate effect as the Personal Assistant to the Deputy Inspector General of Police of Galle Range.
