Red Cross extends disinfection drive

Celebrating the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2020 yesterday (08) Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) organized an event at the Victoria Home, a center for disability services and support and the Thusitha Elders Home. The event included handing over essential supplies and equipment for the need. As a part of the fight against COVID-19, both the premises were disinfected under the supervision of the SLRCS.

The SLRCS President Jagath Abeysinghe and the Deputy Director General Anura Lekamge attended the event.

Meanwhile, SLRCS with the support of International Committee of the Red Cross, has carried out a series of activities to assist the health authorities to fight against the epidemic.

Accordingly, SLRCS Vavuniya branch recently deployed its volunteers to the Vavuniya General Hospital to support the hospital staff in its administrative procedures.

The SLRCS Colombo branch was also engaged in disinfecting the premises of the Ministry of Disaster Management and the Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya last week. It also carried out the disinfection process at Battaramulla courts and the court complexes in Borella, Nugegoda, Mount Lavinia, Ratmalana, Moratuwa, Kaduwela, Homagama and Avissawella.

SLRCS also disinfected the Attorney General’s Department, District Courts, High Courts, Supreme Court, Chief Magistrate’s Court, Sri Lanka Law College,Traffic Court, Ministry of Justice and the Jaffna Central Bus Stand during this week.
