SLTB buses for travelling to Apeksha Hospital

Passenger Transport Minister Mahinda Amaraweera directed the officials of Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) to formulate an immediate plan to provide transport for patients travelling to the Apeksha hospital in Maharagama from remote areas to attend clinics and return to their hometowns.

Minister Amaraweera further said that he has received a number of complaints from patients who are currently undergoing many difficulties in finding transport facilities to visit the Maharagama Apeksha hospital due to the non-operatio of buses owing to the curfew.

There are a number of patients who used to travel to the Apeksha hospital in Maharagama for their scheduled clinics from remote areas daily. But, now they face a great difficulty in traveling to the hospital due to lack of public transport for the last two months. Most of the patients are suffering without the routine drugs given by the hospital.

Therefore, the Minster has advised the SLTB Chairman to deploy SLTB buses covering all the parts of the country to provide transport without causing any inconvenience to patients whilst not creating any obstacle to the transport plan of the bus depots.
