5,000 complete quarantine process

The Head of the National Operation Centre for the Prevention of Covid-19 Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said that out of the 33 Covid-19 positive cases detected on Monday 31 were from the Welisara Navy camp. Accordingly, so far 329 Navy personnel have tested positive for Covid-19.  

Meanwhile, 138 persons from Rajagiriya, Kolonnawa and Kolabissa who had come in contact with infected persons have been directed to quarantine centres, the Army Commander said.

Accordingly, 67 from Kolabissa in Kandy, 29 from Bandaranayakepura in Rajagiriya, 27 from Kolonnawa have been sent for quarantine as a positive case of COVID-19 has been detected from each of these three areas, he stated.

The Commander noted that currently, 4,883 persons are being quarantined at 39 Tri Forces operated quarantine centres.
 
The Army Chief also said 47 persons left Tri-forces-operated quarantine centres yesterday, adding that a total of 5,089 in the country have completed the quarantine procedure so far.

Meanwhile, commenting on the soldier who had collapsed and died in Dambulla, Lt. Gen. Silva added that this soldier has a history of epilepsy and had collapsed while on his way from one camp to another. However, he noted that the cause of death could only be confirmed after the post-mortem examination is conducted.
