European sailors transferred to Galle from Mattala

 A special Boeing 767 - 300ER aircraft carrying 230 European sailors of merchant ships  from the Netherlands landed at the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) yesterday.

They are crew members of merchant vessels docked at the Galle Harbor in southern Sri Lanka. They were permitted to enter the country on special humanitarian grounds.

All the passengers were subjected to a special disinfection process under the supervision of the officers of the Chemical Nuclear, Biological and Radiological Response unit of the Sri Lanka Air Force and taken to Galle Harbor by special buses. The plane will leave Sri Lanka tonight with 53 crew members and sailors who are due to return to Europe after finishing their tour of duty.
