PM to brief all former MPs on May 4

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa is expected to brief all former Members of Parliament of the last Parliament about the latest national issues relating to Covid 19, political sources told the Daily News yesterday.

This meeting, which will be billed to be held at Temple Trees on Monday at 10 am, comes in the wake of various viewpoints coming from various political parties about the manner in which the Government handled the situation regarding the Coronavirus pandemic, these sources said.

These sources also explained that the Prime Minister will also brief all former Government and Opposition MPs on what type of action that the Government has already taken to combat the pandemic and also what type of action that the Government hopes to take in the future as well, they said.

The Premier will also be receptive to any ideas and proposals coming from all MPs and will also respond to any questions that the MPs will be asking at the meeting as well, they said.

They also asserted that the Prime Minister had not summoned the meeting to discuss or get any budgetary approvals though he had summoned the meeting in his capacity as the Minister of Finance too.
