Navy retrieves stricken SLTB bus

Sri Lanka Navy assisted to lift a bus belonging to the Sri Lanka Transport Board which had slipped off to the lagoon at Ponnalai bridge in Karainagar yesterday.

The SLTB bus of the Karainagar Depot which was heading to Colombo from Karainagar, Jaffna had slipped off to the lagoon at the Ponnalai bridge over the lagoon in Karainagar causeway and the Navy made arrangements to retrieve the fallen bus. Under the directive of Deputy Chief of Staff and the Commander Northern Naval Area Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera, naval personnel attached to the Northern Naval Area used their equipment and a crane, to lift up the bus.

Later the recovered bus was towed to the Kayts Police station by a naval recovery vehicle.
