More than 140 tested for COVID-19 in Jaffna

More than 140 persons were tested for the Covid-19 virus at the the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

According to the Director of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital Dr. T  Sathiyamoorthy the majority of them have been released and only seven tested positive.

He added, the blood samples were sent to Colombo and the results later showed the positive cases.

"The Jaffna Hospital has all the medical facilities to treat the Covid-19 cases and the situation is under control".

Meanwhile, 15 persons were arrested in the Vadamarachchi area for violating the curfew laws. The vehicles also have been taken into custody by the police.

Several Temples in Jaffna have postponed festivals until the situation is under control.  Religious groups and organisations have appealed to the people and temples to postpone any activity.
