COVID-19: Global cases reach one million

The total number of global COVID-19 cases was close to the one million mark last night as per the Coronavirus Dashboard of the Johns Hopkins University, USA, which indicated more than 981,000 cases, with the US leading at 226,000 cases.  Italy is next with 115,000 cases. There were 50,000 deaths around the world, with Italy accounting for 13,000 and Spain also crossing the grim 10,000 mark. Nearly 204,000 people across the globe had fully recovered from the viral disease, with the biggest number of recoveries (76,000) in China, where several previously locked down cities are now open for travel. There is no currently no cure or vaccine for COVID-19.
