Relief for garment exporters discussed

The issues and challenges that could be faced by garment exporters within the next three crucial months and means to address them were discussed at the Temple Trees yesterday.

The issues were discussed at the Presidential Task Force headed by former Minister Basil Rajapaksa on Supplying Essential Goods, under the instructions of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

During the meeting exporters pointed out that some buyers in the international market have not paid for their exported garments since last February following the 19 outbreak.

The issue of cancellation of the orders and the cancellation of orders that already have commenced the production process were also discussed at the meeting.

The garment exporters, European Union Representatives and US Embassy representatives participated.
