Present curve must be maintained

Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi speaking a a media briefing following a meeting of the Task Force chaired by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said that Sri Lanka has not recorded a single COVID-19 death so far.

"Sri Lanka is setting an example as it has not recorded a single COVID-19 death so far," she said. "That however does not mean that we are entirely safe. I noticed many instances today where individuals while being out were not maintaining that social distance we had advised."

She cautioned that the two most effective ways to prevent contracting the virus was to maintain a social distance and personal hygiene.

"We are fortunate to have been able to maintain this curve. When compared to other countries we noticed huge leaps in numbers but we have been able to successfully contain the spread of this virus."


No new COVID-19 positive cases reported
Speaking at the National operation Centre to combat covid-19 Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said that as of today (at 4:30pm) there have been no new COVID-19 positive cases reported in the country.
