SLAF Constructs Isolation Wards at IDH

With increasing numbers of patients being reported to be infected with COVID-19 the requirements of enhanced isolation facilities at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases better known as IDH is a top priority of the nation.

In order to cater for this pressing need the construction of two Pre-Fabricated buildings commenced on the 18th of March under the direct supervision of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias. Due to the continuous construction which is being done on a 24 hour basis by the engineering team from the SLAF Directorate of Civil Engineering, it is expected to complete the project well in advance before the previously planned two week period. The new isolation facility is expected to have 16 isolation rooms.
